Pin Love: Words

A few weeks ago, I posted my favorites pins about sewing. This time I want to post some of my favorite quotes that I found via Pinterest. I cannot simply post random pins I love because I am probably borderline OCD and there needs to be some structure to my Pin-love =)

Christmas Mantle

Hi Friends! Last week I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up a garland swag for my mantle because they were 50% off. The ones that I liked that were big enough and lighted were still a little more than I wanted to spend. So I picked up all this stuff in the picture below and decided to make my own. I think I spend about $25 on all this, and it was all half off! Hobby Lobby is my favorite place on earth!

First, I fluffed. Fluffing is the single most important step in garlands and wreaths. There is nothing worse than a flat garland =)

Here is the finished product:

I had some candlesticks that I bought at a garage sale a few years ago and I thought it would be cute to put big ornaments in them this year instead of candles just for something different. I normally stick to a strict gold and red color scheme but I'm feeling more green and pinecone-y this year!

Notice something missing? I dont' have up Gracie's stocking yet!! #badmomma. I actually bought it, but it doesn't match ours and I'm picky, so I either need to find her one to match ours, or replace all of ours. I thought about doing all red velvety and ordering a 3 letter monogram through Southern Proper Monograms, but I don't think they will be here in time for Christmas.

Here is what the stocking ornaments look like from Southern Proper Monograms. Love it!!!

I also have up my tree, outdoor lights, and few more indoor decorations. I'll post more as soon as I can get decent pics of them!

Does anyone else have their decorations up yet? I would love to see them. Linking to

Our weekend

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend spent with family and people they love. I know we did. I sure don't want to go back to work tomorrow. Our Thanksgiving started Wednesday night with lots and lots of cooking! Thankfully I had the cutest little helper to keep me company:

I made Paula Deen's Green Bean Casserole, and my recipe for banana bread. Both were a hit! After cooking, I added a little length to my niece's jeans by adding a simple fabric ruffle. The fabric coordinated with Gracie's dress that she was going to wear.

Gracie was a bear all morning, but thankfully, she got a good nap in before we left to go over to my parent's house. She cooperated pretty well over there. She's really not big on crowds of people and there were about 25 of us.

My two babies. My niece and my actual baby =) Gracie is mesmorized by Layla.

Not too happy to be taking pictures

After we left my parent's house we loaded up and headed to Eric's grandma's house. We were stuffed by the end of the day to say the least!

Little Miss got a little taste of turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, and several other things I've already forgotten about. This ultimately resulted in the removal of her clothes!!

She might be naked but I'll be danged if the girl doesn't have a bow on her head!

Thursday night my mom and I headed to Wal-mart for a little leisure shopping trip **sarcasm**. The crazies were definitely out in full force! The sales started at 10 but the workers there said people just started ripping into boxes! That is the most insane thing I have ever heard! I headed out of there quickly with some new pillows for us, and lots of goodies for our Christmas family.

Friday I sat in front of my computer with a good cup of coffee and did a little online shopping. I purchased new curtains for our living room. They are a pinch pleat silk-taffeta like curtain in a pale gold/bronze color. I hope they look good. I also purchased tons of stuff for Gracie that she didn't even really need. That is what I hate about black Friday. I just FEEL like I should be buying something.

However, I did purchase her a new coat from Old Navy for cheap, and bought a few things from The Children's place because they were having a great sale!

Eric put up Christmas lights on Friday and we just hung out around the house and ordered a pizza. Friday night I went with my mom, sister, and family friend to see Breaking Dawn. I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite. I felt like it was just a "filler" movie with not much going on.

Saturday we made a trip to Wal-mart, and spent about a gazillion dollars on pretty much nothing. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does that!?! Then we came home, finished putting up our Christmas decor, and gave Gracie a box to play with. She was in Heaven playing in her box!

My sister came over to spend the night (she's 16) and we watched New Moon and discussed how someone could NOT be team Jacob. We just don't get it!

Sunday we had plans to go to church, but after cooking pancakes and cleaning up the mess from the Christmas decor the night before we decided to skip it. I feel awful! That makes 2 weeks in a row! But it's right in the middle of Gracie's nap. I know I shouldn't use that as an excuse, though. Next week we're going for sure and we will all just have to adjust!

Sunday night we went over to my parent's house. While Gracie played and my dad and Eric watched football, my mom and I whipped this up for my niece. We are still learning how to really use the machine. I was going to add her name across the L, but I still haven't switched the needed to a ball-point needle and had fears that it would rip around the stitches, so I just left the applique as it was. She will look precious though!

Gracie looked precious in her new hat!

Whew! That was really long! Is anyone still with me after that? I'm linking to Life Made Lovely and Miscellany Monday and Talk to us Tuesday because this post is all over the place

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.

Gracie: 9 months (belated)

Gracie,

You are NINE months old. I know I say this every month, but I can't believe we're here already. I see more little girl and less baby every day. You have such personality. You are starting to look more like your momma and unfortunately, you're starting to act more like me too! You are so stubborn and have such a strong will. I pray every day that we can use that to your advantage when you're older. This is the look you have when you know you have been caught.

You have decided that you have way too much going on to sit still for a clothes change or diaper change. I literally wrestle an alligator and end up sweating by the time I am done changing you.

You are so beautiful and everyone always stops me at the store to comment on how cute you are. I call you my little show stopper! You have such a fun personality too, and I'm pretty sure you're personality is a lot bigger than your little body. You love to dance. If you're standing and you hear music, you will either start squatting or shaking your whole body, and if you're sitting and hear music, you wiggle your shoulders. It's so precious. You love "talking" although you're the only one who knows what you're saying. You can say a few things we understand including "mama", "dada", "no" and "bye bye" Although bye bye sounds more like ba-ba in your cute little country accent.

You have learned the "art" of manipulation. When you're mad at me for putting your clothes on, you scream for "dada", and when daddy gets boring you start saying "mama" over and over again until you find me. However, you're favorite word is "NO". You don't say it mean and it sounds more like "NA". I will give you a sippy and you will say "NA" and throw it on the floor. I take something away from you, and hear 'NA". I'm pretty sure you're trying to stay "stop" and "don't" as well because sometimes you will replace "NA" with "sto" and "don". Especially when you're tickled, it's always "STO...DON...NAAAAA" haha. Such a character you are.

You can wave bye, clap, give kisses, and dance on command. You also started loving to jump this month and have finally started enjoying your jumparoo. And girlfriend, you LOVE to have an audience when you jump. You will be jumping at a medium pace, but if you know someone is watching, you giggle and jump harder, and we all better watch out if we start clapping for you, because you just about try to go through the roof! You love an audience and you are such a little drama queen! Your current favorite activity is to ride on daddy's shoulders. When he stops moving you spur him like you would a horse!

We have a your 9 month check up this week, but I'm guessing you weigh about 17 pounds and you're only about 24 inches long. You're such a short little thing! We just switched you to a size 3 diaper although they're still a little big. You wear 6 months, and 6-9 month clothes, and barely fit a size 2 shoe.

You are VERY mobile and I am all over the place now that you're crawling, pulling up, and walking along everything. You even pull up on the wall and walk beside it! You are pretty quick too. Especially when you're standing up on something, and I pretend like I'm coming to tickle you, I have never seen you move so fast. You giggle uncontrollably and try to climb on whatever you're standing on.

You have what we like to call your "stink face" When we say or do something you don't like you narrow your little eyes at us and give a little mean look. You also love to pretend you're about to get in trouble. For example, you try to pretend you're about to stand up in the bathtub so when I tell you "no-no" you sit back down and clap for yourself. You make yourself, and momma, so proud!

You have had a bad spell of teething this month which resulted in your third tooth, which makes 3 on the bottom, and none on top. This has also caused some sleep problems. I just hold you and feed you when you wake up because I know it comforts you and I just want you to feel better. Then you go back to sleep right after a feeding. Your schedule looks like this:

You nurse at 6 in the morning (early riser), play until 7:30
eat 3 ounces of solids at 7:30 then go down for about a 2 hour nap
4oz bottle of BM around 10
play until about 11:30, 3oz solids, then about a 2 hour nap
4 or 5 oz bottle of BM around 2 or 3, then snacks
Dinner at 5:30 or 6 then play time, and bath time
nurse and down to bed sometime around 7 - 8
Lately you have been up for a feeding sometime between 2:30 and 4:30am but go right back to sleep. I have tried giving you more than 4OZ of milk at a feeding, but you're too busy and have things to do =)

You love to eat what we eat. Usually I'll just let you lick the spoon or fork with nothing on it and usually that pacifies you enough where I can still get you to eat your veggies.

You definitely let us know when you're not happy. Usually you'll arch your back and throw yourself backwards in a little temper tantrum. I usually just ignore it and it only lasts for about 5 or 10 seconds.

But for the most part, you are still such a Joy to be around! I know this is the longest post ever, but I want to remember every little thing about you! Your smile and laughter is good for my momma-heart. You bring me peace, hope, joy, and purpose every day of my life. I am constantly reminded of God's love and grace every time I look at you. My cup runneth over for you my dear.

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:11

that's all..
