Repurposed Mirror
Hi blog friends! I haven't posed anything crafty lately so I thought I would throw my latest creation in here! I found this old mirror in my attic a while ago and it's been sitting up against the wall in my foyer for about a month!
I decided that I liked the style of the mirror, but not the color. I didn't really need another mirror though, so I decided it would make a great jewelry hanger. I have a jewelry armoire that I keep most of my jewelry in, but it was getting full so I needed a new jewelry hanger anyway. My idea was to paint it white and distress it with brown glaze. After I got one coat of "Heirloom White" paint on it, I liked the way it looked. It still had a bit of gold showing through (which is basically the same thing as brown) so I decided to leave it alone. This was pretty much a combination of me liking the color and being lazy.
I then hot glued burlap around the cardboard backing. This was actually the hardest part because the burlap didn't want to stick. I was relentless though and after my fingers were all nice and burned from the glue I moved on. I then attached the backing to the frame.
Almost done! I bought some little eye hooks from Hobby Lobby and sprayed them black because I didn't like their brass color. I then pushed the hooks into the burlap and cardboard backing. I didn't have a problem with the hooks not staying in. However, if you have super chunky pieces or pieces that are very heavy, I would suggest using a think piece of wood as a backing in lieu of cardboard.
Finished product:
This was super easy to make and a great way to repurpose something that I wasn't going to use anyway. The white/gold mix is definitely better than the gold...I'm SO glad I painted it! I'm definitely enjoying the extra jewelry storage!

I Heart Frills
As I have probably mentioned before, the decor in my home is more classic/traditional than girly. I have tried to hang chandeliers in every room of the house and put white ruffles everywhere, however, that's when E puts his foot down. For one, the Oklahoma weather is not appropriate for chandeliers in every room. In the middle of summer (heck, probably April-October) it gets VERY hot and a fan is usually needed to help circulate the air conditioning air. Secondly, E is constantly outdoors tearing up one thing or another, so I try to stay away from white in the main rooms as much as I can because he would get dirty boy germs on everything.
As a little girl, my room was decorated in pink and my wallpaper border had teddy bears playing dress up. I had pink, pearls, and lace everywhere. I practically begged for it! Now that I'm older, I'm still partial to spaces with a little fuss. But the ones I like now have a little more sophistication than my cottan candy childhood bedroom.
I think this rooms natural pallette is a perfect counter-balance for the elaborate details.

I think I will try to make this sign. I love it!
I have always been drawn to really ornate rooms... I love the moulding in this one.
I love the idea of having a a manequin in my room to display purses, belts, and jewelry.

I know y'all are curious...
I have seen this couples quiz on a few other blogs and thought it was cute. Since I have nothing interesting to blog about this week, I thought I would let y'all know a little about me and Mr. Andrea's Attic! Normally, I'm a pretty private person, but come on, what girl doesn't like to talk about herself a little =)
1. What are your middle names?
Danielle & Glen
2. How long have you been together?
I guess we officially started dating in the Spring/Summer of 2006 and were married June 14, 2008
3. How long did you know each other before you started dating?
Years, since we were 14/15, so I guess that's like 6 years before we started dating...
4. Who asked who out?
He asked me out. Well, I guess I should say he forced me into going out with him. He wouldn't leave my house and a girl has to eat, right?!?! He is so barbaric!
5. How old are each of you?
I am 24, he is 25
6. Did you go to the same school?
High School yes, College no.
7. Are you from the same home town?
Yes.
8. Who is the smartest?
I think we are both smart in different areas. E would definitely tell you he's smarter, but I'm not so sure that's the truth. I just pretend to be helpless and act like I don't know what's going on so he will do things for me. Don't judge, I take advantage of a opportunity when I see one :) He is very knowledgeable about pretty much everything, but I am very business savvy
9. Who majored in what?
E majored in agriculture or animal science or something like that, and I majored in Business.
10. Who is the most sensitive?
Me! I am very sensitive depending on the situation, but I can be as cold as ice too....
11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Playa Del Carmen a few times...
12. Who has the worst temper?
Me, I'm a trouble maker according to E! He has his moments, but gaw, I'll be the first to throw something, and I ain't always talking hissy fits here either. This isn't something I'm necessarily proud of, but it is what it is.
13. How many children do you want?
E wants 2, I want 3. I'll get my way. I want either all girls, all boys, or two boys and then a girl. Gaw, I hope I'm not this picky when the time actually comes!
14. Who does the cooking?
We both cook. He is really good about cooking when I ambeing lazy tired.
15. Who is more social?
E for sure. I am once you get to know me, but I'm more of a loner most of the time.
16. Who is the neat freak?
We both have our quirks about certain things. E has to make the bed every day or he stresses out, and I have to have the floor swept and everything dusted or I go into cardiac arrest!
17. Who is the most stubborn?
MOI- Stubborn AS A MULE. Yes, this can cause friction sometimes, but hey, when you're right..., pssssh, you're RIGHT! =)
18. Who wakes up earlier?
E. And don't even get me started on this. He is sweet enough to present me with coffee built just the way I like it every morning. To be completely honest, I don't even think I know how I like my coffee anymore because he has been making it for me for so long.
19. Where was your first date?
I don't even remember. Sad huh? It must have been pretty traumatic! Like I said, we have known each other forever and he pretty much forced me to date him. Not that I didn't want to date him, but, long story short.. we had a falling out of sorts years earlier (high school drama) and my motto is "walk out, crawl back"... right girls?? :)
20. Who has the bigger family?
Me for sure! I have five brothers and sisters..oh the stories I could tell you
21. Do you get flowers often?
I added in this question deliberately in hopes that he will see this and know that he needs to work on this. =)
22. How do you spend the holidays?
We always have at LEAST 3-4 houses to visit every Christmas and every Thanksgiving. I throw a fit about this every year, but I guess I just need to be thankful that we have families who want us there!
23. Who is more jealous?
Really neither one of us. I know he won't cheat or anything... he knows better!
24. How long did it take to get serious?
I guess it was instantly once I decided to actually date him.
25. Who eats more?
Are you kidding me??? Definitely E. He eats three times what I eat!
26. What do you do for a living?
E- Supervisor for OTA
Belle=Human Resources Manager for a smaller-ish company
27. Who does the laundry?
My mom. ha! I know, I know, I am a spoiled brat. She doesn't work so she will get bored and come over and play with my dogs and do my laundry. She is seriously the greatest!
28. Who's better with the computer?
E for sure.
29. Who drives when you are together?
Usually, E. He is always complaining about my driving. I'm a woman, and well, I'm not the best driver, nor do I claim to be. I'd just rather have him drive than hear the constant complaining of telling me to get off my phone and pay attention, or not to text, or not to do this or that. Sheesh! I can live without all that.
30. What is your song?
Our first dance song was "I Cross My Heart" by George Straight.
Now it's your turn. Copy and paste these questions into your blog and let us all know a little about you and your Mr. Can't wait to read the responses!

Weekend Recap
Hi yall! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I was stuck at home due to bad weather so I got some much needed rest. This weekend recap will be pretty boring, so I won't fault you if you choose not to read. I felt like I needed a little disclaimer before I begin! :) **I do, however, have some exciting new buys to share with those who stick around at the end**
Friday night my friend H and her new guy B came over for dinner. We ate enchiladas and drank Modelo while watching some BB games on TV and praying the satellite wouldn't go out due to the stormy weather. Which leads me to Saturday... We had a large snow storm come in very early Saturday and E got called into work. I was stuck at the house all alone and read two books! I am total book worm and can't put a book down once I start. I read the latest book by Julie Garwood (it wasn't bad) and I read "To Die For" by Linda Howard and it was such a good book that I will probably read it again pretty soon.
Sunday E had to go back into work (still not sure why because everything was melted by then, but I guess because people were still wrecking??) Anyway... since he was gone it gave me an opportunity to go shopping with my mom. I got lots of goodies! 99% of what I bought was very spring-summery. I.AM.READY! Here's what I bought:
I CANNOT wait until this crappy weather is gone so I can break out my summer gear! What about you? What have you guys bought for summer that you can't wait to wear?

I am really excited about these cargo/capri pants. They are Calvin Klein and I found them for 60% off! They have good material and good length so I can dress them up with heels!
I found this Nine West turquoise bag for $16.99. So Exciting!
You will notice that my Nine West bag is in all the above pictures, even though I'm showing you different items. I just love it and thought it deserved to be in all the pics :) Turquoise goes with any color!
I bought the following items at Target. I just love Target and never leave there empty handed! Both of these were on sale also, or course. I love to save money! The skirt is a little more coral in person, although it looks more pink in this picture.
I CANNOT wait until this crappy weather is gone so I can break out my summer gear! What about you? What have you guys bought for summer that you can't wait to wear?

I'm loving...
NOT this weather in OK right now, that's for sure! This is currently what it looks like outside:
It's not that uncommon for an early spring snow here, but hopefully this one will be the last! It was 75 degrees here yesterday for crying out loud! Stupid weather...
Ok, now on to what I am loving right now...Farmhouses! I cannot even begin to explain the giddy feeling I experience whenever I see an old farmhouse! I just picture an old grandma and grandpa sitting on the front porch swing of their old farmhouse, the same house that they raised their six children in, talking and laughing, and sipping on sweet tea and history. Every meal is homemade from scratch and she always has breakfast/lunch/supper ready when he comes in from plowing the fields on his John Deere tractor. Fresh flowers are spread out in vases all over the house from her garden... I realize that there is only a small chance that this is a reality for anyone...but nevertheless, my imagination runs wild every time I see one of these in the distance: (*bonus points if it has a big red barn*)
I am linking this to Little Red House- Mosaic Monday.

Feature Friday- All Thingz Related
Haaaaappy Friday! I have some exciting news to share! I have the very talented girls Rebekah and Bridgette from All Thingz Related to show off today!!! I started reading their blog pretty much as soon as they started blogging two months ago and I.WAS.HOOKED! This sister-in-law team live over 700 miles apart, but bond via the internet with crafting. Head on over to their blog to see more creations. They are a huge inspiration for me, and I hope you enjoy them as well. Here is a little Q & A session from the girls, Rebekah's answers are in red, Bridgette's are in blue, my questions/remarks are in black:
1. What do you do- work wise?
I have been a stay-at-home mom for 9 years.
I am also a stay at home mom, but I also do decorative painting as much a I can!
2. Have you always been into crafting, or was there a turning point in your life when you discovered you loved it?
I have always enjoyed making things. The very first thing that I remember making was when I was in 2nd grade. I made my own Wilbur the Pig outfit for school. I covered a dixie cup with fabric, attatched elastic & used it for the nose and cut ears out of construction paper and glued them on a headband, lol!
*Rebekah, PLEASE post a pic of this!
Yes..I have always enjoyed crafting! I think the turning point for me was getting married and having my own home. I wanted beautiful things with out having to pay too much, and being that I love to make things it worked out just right!
3. Whose craft skills do you covet?
I love Kristine McKay Designs! She has fantastic & easy ideas, a beautiful website and free printables! I've watched all her appearances on Studio 5 (through youtube since I don't live in Utah!)
I would have chose KMcKay also! haha Let see...I think my next choice would have to be the girls at Shanty 2 Chic! They are SO creative!
* Who doesn't love the Shanty Girls?*
4. Project you are dying to tackle?
I would have chose KMcKay also! haha Let see...I think my next choice would have to be the girls at Shanty 2 Chic! They are SO creative!
* Who doesn't love the Shanty Girls?*
4. Project you are dying to tackle?
I would LOVE to make my own coffee table...I just don't have the appropriate tools right now :(
pics from Knock Off Wood.
I am wanting to make an Ottoman to go in front of my couch..I have NO idea why I am dragging my feet, but I think I would love it when I got it finished!pics from Knock Off Wood.
5. Aside from crafting, do you have any other hobbies you haven't discussed in your blog?
I'm a couponer. I want to find the best deal for my dollar. Of course, FREE is best!
I also love to bake! I am a sweet-a-holic so baking makes me almost as happy as crafting! : )
6. What project do you have coming up?
I'm the type that has about 8 projects going at once! I don't know which one I'll finish first but I'm sure it will involve twine, paint or paper!
*Oh girl, I know what you mean about the 8 projects. I will demolish one part of my house to make another part pretty!*
My Front Porch is in need of a big makeover! I am excited about giving it some much needed life!
* I love love love front porches! I can't wait to see yours when you are done!
7. How do you define your decor style?
My style has changed about 6 times since I've been married, lol, but currently I love the Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn look.
I would have to say my style is..in the words of a friend...comfortable classic! I tend to stick to a classic style but in a comfortable way...I need to feel relaxed in my home!
8. Do you have an etsy shop? If so, please post the link
We currently do not have an etsy shop but we have something lined up to open soon!
I'm excited!
9. Who is your craft inspiration/where do you find craft inspiration?
I can't wait to receive the newest Ballard or PB catalog in the mail so I can sit down & circle all the things that I think I can make!
I find my inspiration in EVERY thing...but mainly the internet! I love to look at blogs and web sites and get my wheels turning!
10. What is your favorite project you have completed thus far?
My favorite thing that I've made is my Ballard Design Inspired Bird on a Perch. I received a ton of fantastic comments on that little fella.
Oh..this is a hard one! I think I am going to say Black and White Scrolls Dresser. It was an exciting transformation! I LOVE the way it turned out!
11. Do you remember your first date? How old were you and where did you go?
~Just for fun questions~
I was 16 when I went on my first date (that was the rules). We went to Steak n Shake & then to the movies. We saw Independence day with Will Smith :) When my date brought me home, all he and my dad wanted to talk about was deer hunting :(. That was our one and only date.
I was 17...it was the day after Thanksgiving. We went to the mall and ate at Chick-fil-A! Must have been a pretty good first date...I MARRIED HIM! : )
